Our Lovely Neighbours In Frascati

Posted On Thursday, May 8, 1997 at at 9:15 PM by AlvinI picked up Mandy from the Frascati Train Station, quickly changed our clothes at home and left the car in the Ciampino Airport for a flight to the capital of Catalonia - Barcelona ! The first night we stayed in a hotel at the centre of Barca, which happened to have BBC Live ! on TV and we watched the "historic win" of The New Labour led by Tony Blair - a memorable first night spent in Spain !
We spent many enjoyable hours walking up and down The Ramblas, sampling tapas along the way as well as visiting the Olympic Stadium and churches with beautiful Gothic architecture. We spent a few evenings along the harbour front and had dinners of seafood paella.
The last few days, we hired a car to venture out to the Catalonian countryside through the chaotic traffic, and visited Montserrat with its famous mountains and wide valleys. All in all, a memorable getaway from Roma for a long weekend.

Wonderful Foods Of Italia
Posted On Friday, March 7, 1997 at at 2:28 AM by AlvinOne of the great great joys of living in this beautiful country is the opportunity to eat out regularly and hang-out at outdoor cafe in the evenings watching life go by. The ristorante serve up wholesome Italian food of: Antipasti of Prosciutto with melone, Primi of different types of pasta like Spaghetti Carbonara, Fettuccine al Funghi, Secondi dishes of Spiedini al Rosto, Bistecca alla Fiorentina and Filetto, all washed down with litri of local vino and round up with a tiramisu and cafe ! Ah, life is good !
What is better ? Of course the many friendly companies we have along the way ! Here's Johnny, Rhea and little Elle at a cafe in Frascati and Fabio and Roberta at Ristorante Caminetto !

Where We Went In Oz
Posted On Thursday, January 9, 1997 at at 2:26 AM by AlvinG'Day ! Sydney-Siders !
Posted On Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at at 8:08 PM by AlvinAlthough this was our last stop on this amazing trip, we felt immediately energised when we walked down Darling Harbour under a blue blue sky. The Sydney Opera House was as beautiful as any modern buildings and instantly recognisable. We visited my relatives, Michael, Erica, Yvonne and Bridget, who were living in a suburb called Bexley and it was kind of them not only to take us in for a few days but also drove us around Bondi Beach and other areas outside Sydney. Here's Michael, Erica, Yvonne and Bridget and us at the dinner table after we emptied their fridge of beers and foods and they still managed to smile at the camera - real good guys. Worth mentioning is that Michael and Erica had been a real pal since my teenager wild days and they were the ones who bought me my first tennis racket in my boarding school days - a Head Metallic frame, real cool in those days - you're real heroes, guys !
Western Oz
Posted On Sunday, January 5, 1997 at at 7:56 PM by AlvinWe flew in to Perth from Darwin and were ready for some more of this country's magical landscapes ! Perth had a relaxing atmosphere where we spent some time visiting the Swan River and King's Park. It was so sunny and bright that we were sure that the air was pristine and it was such a change from the smog of Roma !
We moved on to The Pinnacles which were just absolutely out-of-this-world as we had never seen such stunning plant fossils and covering such a gigantic site - roughly the size of 10 football pitches ! Take a look !We drove on to an amazing campsite called Wadi Farm where we surprised the owners by being their only guests and we had the whole site to ourselves, they even cleaned out the swimming pool just for us - great guys ! We then drove on to visit the iconic Wave Rock, say no more, surf away !
We spent the rest of our time in Western Australia driving through the Sterling Mountain Range and the wine areas near Margaret River and did a few spot of wine-tasting before heading off to Sydney to visit Michael, Erica, Yvonne and Bridget. Yeb, the fridge-raiders were on their way !As we went around the beautiful areas in WA, we took time to enjoy the functional city of Albany and swam in the clear blue waters of Bussleton. Life's so good in the Lucky Country !
