Glorious Sunset In Koh Samui

After a hectic early flight landing in the supremely friendly Koh Samui Airport, we found life immediately took on a slower pace. To begin with, the airport oozed, up to your eyebrows, with a holiday merry-making atmosphere (security aside, of course) - we were ushered onto open-deck electric carts/trolleys once we dis-embarked for a slow ride across the tarmac, admiring the tropical flora and taking in the flowery scents along the way to Immigration ! A mild 27C greeted us as we were driven to our pleasure dome in Bangrak Beach on the north-eastern corner of Samui. For the following 10 days, we enjoyed the most relaxing time since, em ... since last time. Basically, we would walk the five minutes' slope down to the fresh seafood markets everyday and hunted for our lunch and dinner - massive tiger prawns, fish steaks the size of a hand, squids so fresh you would think they could jump out of the shopping basket - all washed down of course, with a glass of chilled white wine ! The lunch would last normally through the afternoon, with swimming and reading breaks along the way until the SUNSET ! We had a prime position to view the famous Samui sunset and then Mandy would cook up another delicious seafood dinner to end another perfect day ! Oh, yes, we ought to also mention that we did manage to find time to visit The Great One - The Big Buddha and Guan Yin in Samui, thankfully just 15 minutes' walk in the sunshine from Bangrak Beach, but we would hurry back for a quick dip to freshen up before lunch. Just a fun island to be spending time on !
