We chanced upon this picturesque little cove called Yanui, located right at the very southern tip of Phuket while we were doing our research and had dreamt to be in such a wonderful place. And before you could say "voila!" and here we were in Yanui, taking time out of our home routines and enjoying the fresh sea air.  Mind you, it took over an hour from the spanking new airport to reach these furthest parts of Phuket where the pace of life took on, what was generally known as the "village speed". August and September had traditionally been the low season and we welcomed the cooler climate, the less busy roads and beaches and the locals had more time to have a friendly chat with you as you began to walk and talk at their pace. Apart from all the swimming sessions, we took time to hike up to the Phromthep Cape and Windmill viewpoints, around the Nai Harn Lake as well as visiting the well-tucked away coves of Yanui and Leamka Noi. One particular surprise was the Seashell Museum which was very informative and had loads of interesting colorful sea shells and deep sea fossils on display. We welcomed the occasional bursts of downpours in the middle of the day and spent relaxing times over road-side lunches, watching life pass by. The road-side local eatery offered Thai foods one wouldn't find on a normal menu, basically one had to lift and examine each pot to find out the delicacies of the day ! It was difficult to drag ourselves away back to the airport but we promised ourselves that we would return to this quiet corner in the not-too-distant future.
