Phuket Laguna - Celebrating Mandy's Birthday !

Celebrating Mandy's birthday and spending a week here at the Phuket Laguna on the west side of this big holiday island. There were six resort complexes that made up The Laguna (Laguna Beach Club and Beach Resort, Dusit Thani, Sheraton Grande, Banyan Tree and we stayed at The Allamanda - laid-back, big breakfast and quiet beach front - our kinda place ! We spent our days real slow as the temperature reached 43 Degrees Celsius yesterday ! We took time cruising around the many lagoons, strolled around the lovely grounds of the holiday villas, pigged ourselves at the Thai dinner buffet - duck curry was absolutely my favourite, spent late lunches by the peaceful Bang Tao Beach and even spent a late morning snoozing over the Thai local newspapers at the airy and characteristic Dusit Thani Lobby. Coming towards the low season, we had the resort to ourselves most of the time and really enjoyed our quiet times here ! It was 20 years (!) ago in 1990 when I last visited and this time round, the island had lost none of that genuine magic and people seemingly went about their "business" at the relaxingly slow pace as I had remembered.
