Interesting Day Outings Near Kuala Lumpur - Batu Caves And Bandar Sunway

During our month-long sojourn in KL, we made good use of the efficient metro and trains - KL has improved a great deal in this aspect, we could easily make comfortable day-outs to nearby sights. First, we hit the suburb of Bandar Sunway - a mini city practically owned by the Sunway Group, a powerful company built by a Chinese Malaysian family. Bandar Sunway has a university with a huge campus and massive sports fields, a series of mega-malls as well as numerous hotels and amusement arcades - a family could easily spend a week here and play-till-you-drop. To us, the city was best remembered by its huge pyramid and sphinx which looked totally out of place in the modern surroundings.
We also spent the good part of a sunny day visiting the Batu Caves, a pleasant 30 minutes' train ride away. The caves were populated with tens of colorful Hindu statues, which looked even more photogenic in the bright sunny morning. We headed back to our hood in Chow Kit and went to the Sunway Putra Mall (yes, another Sunway Group stronghold) and had a traditional Malaysian Laksa, a spicy coconut based noodle soup, yummy !
